The Museum of London is hosting a one-day event on Saturday 7 October
entitled 'The Lonely Londoners: Sam Selvon and the Literary Heritage.'
The conference is on Caribbean literature and its impact on the
international and contemporary writing scenes. Its focal point is the
writing of Sam Selvon and the impact of his seminal novel, The Lonely
Londoners. Established writiers, journalists, publishers and critics will
talk about the writers and books which have inspired them and read their
favourite selections.
Participants include Susheila Nasta, David Dabydeen, Jean 'Binta' Breeze,
Biyi Bandele, Lawrence Scott, Yvonne Brewster, Ferdinand Dennis, Jan
Shinebourne, etc.
