News of a new trade union research network in London and the South East
Together with a small group of London-based academics, the South East
Region of the TUC (SERTUC) has decided to set up a research network with
the aim of helping SERTUC to meet its agenda in London and the South East.
The activities of the network will include help with policy making
(particularly in regard to the Greater London Authority and the Learning
and Skills Councils), sharing research findings, holding occasional
seminars and conferences, and conducting original research work.
Over the coming months the network plans to develop a web site which lists
all those academics and researchers who work with trade unions, or conduct
research on trade union issues, in the region. Areas of useful research
include education, training, regional development, transport, the
environment, health, housing, equalities issues, union organising and new
management practices.
If you are interested in taking part in this network, please send a brief
summary of your interests and full contact details to Jane Wills, Andrew
Lincoln or Jane Tooke at Queen Mary and Westfield College, London (address
below).
Please pass this on to anyone else who might be interested.
