GALLERY OF THE FUTURE
Art and New Technology
DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR (full-time)
The aim of the Gallery of the Future is to encourage the use of new
technology to foster the making, enjoyment and understanding of art.
The project has just completed an Arts Council lottery funded Feasibility
Study and is at an exciting and formative stage of development. It is
likely to become the independent outreach arm of a major centre for art and
new technology now being established at Loughborough University. The
Development Director will play a crucial role in shaping the future policy
of the organisation. The immediate focus will be on: artists' bursaries;
education and training; and dispersed access using travelling modules or
'pods' and the internet.
The project will work closely with arts and community organisations in
Loughborough and Leicestershire. It will establish a regional development
programme with national and international links.
The post is funded jointly by East Midlands Arts and the Consortium for the
Gallery of the Future.
The appointment, from September 2000, will initially be for one year but is
expected to be extended to at least three.
Salary scale: £21,549 to £26,661
