APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTINGS
Dear Colleague,
Rescen is now into its second year at Middlesex University, and
we are pleased to announce our second series of public research
seminars investigating the working process of professional artists
in the Performing Arts. Presented last year as the “Works in
Progress” series, this year we will be presenting a series of four
Research Seminars at Trent Park, followed by Colloquium: the
artist as researcher at the Jerwood Space in central London.
Placing artistic practice in the context of research, Rescen, the
Centre for Research into Creation in the Performing Arts,
recognises the investigative nature and rigour of the processes
employed by artists.
Details of the seminars can be found below, but we would like to
draw your attention to the fact that out of four seminars, two are
featuring the work of Rescen research associates, composer
Errollyn Wallen and performance artist Richard Layzell. A third
seminar presents the results of a research workshop undertaken
this summer by Middlesex choreographer Kate Flatt, and the
renowned theatre director Phyllida Lloyd. The fourth seminar
presents research by Fin Walker, one of Britain’s leading young
choreographers. You are warmly invited to attend any or all of the
Research Seminars and to participate in the discussions.
Admission is free, but numbers limited, so please book in advance.
Location and time: 7pm, Simmonds Theatre, Jebb Building, Trent Park
Campus, Bramley Rd, Middlesex University, N14 4YZ. Nearest tube,
