Dear Friend,
Apologies if you receive multiple mailings of this message, but we
are trying to get this through to as many people as possible.
Many of you will know of John Lansdown and his innovative attitude to
many aspects of computer mediated art and design. Eurographics is
commemorating his life by instituting a John Lansdown award for
Multimedia, to be awarded for the first time this year at
Eurographics 2000 in Interlaken, 20-25 August 2000.
Information on the award, its criteria and submission details are
available on the web page
http://www.eg.org/EG2000/criteria.html .
We are particularly keen to see a good set of entries showing
innovation in the use of multimedia to commemorate a great man's
memory. The deadline is 14 April, so work you have already prepared
might be ready to submit, and you may want to put those few finishing
touches to work in progress? We would welcome work in the form of
CD-ROM or accessible web site by professional and educational
institutions, amateurs and/or students - in other words, anyone.
There is a first prize of 750 Swiss francs and a second prize of 250
Swiss francs, the kudos of the award should be worth more than the
prize money.
Even if you are not in a position to submit any of your work at this
time, please encourage colleagues, students and acquaintances whose
work should be considered.
Thanks, and good luck with your work,
Huw Jones
