RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY IN DOCUMENT DESIGN
Researcher: GeM
GeM (Genre and Multimodality), an ESRC-funded project, is a collaboration
between the Universities of Bremen, Bradford, and Stirling. The researcher
will work with layout professionals and with a corpus of sample layouts to
synthesise expertise in paper and electronic document design for
incorporation into computer models. You will need experience in thinking
algorithmically, as well as concrete experience with modern programming
tools and techniques. A background in Web design (e.g. Java, HTML) and
emerging standards in document layout languages (e.g. XML) will be a
considerable advantage.

The post is fixed-term for 16 months, and will be based at Stirling, to
begin as soon as possible. Salary will be within Grade 1A of the Research
and Analogous staff salary structure (£15735 to £23631) p.a.
