To Fellow Getting Starteds !,
Having recently started with Winbugs , I downloaded the 'Doodle Demo',
which is very useful. However as there was no actual worked example ,
showing the details behind all the nodes of doodle demo, and as I found the
font too small to read on those nodes that were illustrated , I thought that
other learners might have the same problem. I 'struggled' through to work
out the power demo for myself , and a I couldn't make the direct connection
from diff[i] to Power ,as the full code of the doodle is not given,so I put
in three extra nodes (steps)-----
1) z[i] giving the z scores
2)cv[i] giving the critical values
3)B[i] using the step function to count the critical values
P was then the mean of B[i] and gave the required result.
I was perplexed by sd[i] being on a limb, as it was needed in later nodes.
Howeve this was cleared up by 3.1 of the Manual which states that "Logical
Links in the graph are not stictly necessary".
As others , like me have come straight to Winbugs and Doodles , not having
used Bugs, might have had similar difficulties I attach my worksheet ,
containing the active doodle yo play with. I have called it Power Doodle II.
Best Wishes and Compliments of the Season,
John Wilkinson
