Thanks to both John Temple and Tom Pickard for their memoirs of an event I
sadly missed, having migrated from the Untied Kingdom to these Untied States
by the time it happened.
I think someone should publish them (in possibly expanded versions) as a
chapbook, together with samples of the work of the participants as it was
_then_ (with, perhaps, another set of how it is _now_). The subject line of
this message might be a good title.
"Dr. Who," by the way, used to be one of poet Philip Whalen's favorite TV
programs (before his eyesight failed).
An essay could also be written about poets' responses to "audience
disturbance" -- their reactions to, and ways of dealing with, hecklers, dogs,
small fry. I remember the late John Logan once asking a woman in the
audience to "remove that squalling infant."
Greetings to one and all, and particular congrats to Ric! Long live the Fund
for Poetry!
