I know what you were saying, nor were you saying it clumsily - I was
choosing to wilfully ignore it, coming from a place where the past is so
huge that it obliterates everything. Nothing so spooky as looking at the
remains of 30,000 year old campfires being blown away by the shores of a
long-vanished lake...
As for genius, it is a term best employed in parody, I agree.
