You have to do just a little more than just set Plain Text
if you go to Tools, Options, Send
and check on Plain Text
you will also find a box labeled "Plain Text Settings"
Click on this and you will see that it offers you
MIME or UUencode
Select Mime.
You then have a box that says
encode using
and are give the options of
None
Quoted printable
Base 64
I suspect you have "quoted printable" selected
it is this, rather than actual HTML, that cause all the gibberish in the
digests.
You should deselect quoted printable
and select
none
That should solve the problem.
