hiya,
thanks for this thread once again and thanks to Alison, Billy, David, Ric
and others i might have missed in a flurry of post management for
provocative posts to the subject.
I make considerable use of demotic details and therefore tend to reference
where I am at any given time through perceptual aparatus and such details
go into my emergent syntactical mix. It's not that I deliberately set out
to refer to places that knowledge might be required of for an effective
reading. It's not as if i often engage directly with historically grounded
information either. But demotic details, how things are, what they
resonate, observations, overheard speech, impulses from street signs and
street furnitures of flow, snatches even if misheard (i do make extensive
use of mishearing and misunderstanding to uncover meanings) of exchanges
from Radio and TV and yes e-mails and suchlike permeate my writing. Mind
you that process of permeation can be lengthy and after having been through
several transformative procedures and many many versions I would most
likely be at a loss to identify sources. But not always so, sometimes the
tenor and the era of a place is still held in a particular line or
combination of lines sufficient for it still be transmitted to me if not
necessarily to anybody else. The states of attention in such procedures of
composition are what Pierre has been calling nomadic and I feel happy with
that term as much as with Alison's sense of living displacements.
love and love
