Hi cris
I would be curious to delve further into my aversions too but sometimes I
feel I just delve too far - a love-hate relationship obviously.
A 'poetics' of any colour can produce both good and bad so its not the
poetics. Maybe its the medium? I find something forced, a little desperate
perhaps, in many of the whereabouts contributions. This is not medium that
calls for much 'consideration' and though many of the whereabouts may be
highly considered they don't give that impression. Some seemed to be
wonderfully spontaneous and I enjoyed those (loved Peter's parked cars over
parked cars) but in too many cases the spontaneity was overtaken half-way by
a pressing self-consciousness that dragged the energy away. For some it
looked like a good opportunity just to do a bit of name dropping (authors
open on their desks) - catalogues are boring and sneers are funny (except
when catalogues are funny and sneers are boring of course). Otherwise most of
what Geraldine has said covers my thoughts on the matter.
It could have been different and perhaps it still will.
All the best
Tim A.
