Reminder, probably the last for "domestic" reasons, that Bob Cobbing
performs at Sub Voicive Poetry Upstairs Churchills Mount Pleasant London W C
1 @ 8 pm next Tuesday 11th July 2000
... a few thoughts... humour me...
yes, we've seen Bob at SVP this year. that was January and he was performing
Eric Mottram.
yes, there's another Cobbing event at SVP on 23rd Sep... but, though he may
well perform, the bulk of that day is planned as performances *for him
yes, he's doing a birthday gig at Klinker - I hope to go to that myself; but
this will be an *entirely *different performance - the man is various and
though he fits well into the SVP... what's the plural of ethos? fits well
into SVP, he also fits well into Klinker and we need both to begin to see
him whole
11th July 2000 is an invitation to him to give an Unbirthday Performance
anticipating his 80th birthday... along the lines of the one 5 years ago
when he was coming up to 75...
at that time I said "I'll see you in 5 years time" and he laughed ironically
and said that we'd see... Well, looks like we're almost there... I am more
than willing to consider doing something in 5 years time again; but - how
shall I say this? - seize the hour
and what I am saying to all of you is that I really do hope that room will
be bursting next week; I know it will mean a lot to Bob. He'll survive if
it's less than full; but it would be very good if we could fill the place.
It would be a nice unbirthday present. (He's put a lot of work into
organising it and I think it's likely to be one to really remember)
See a lot of you there, I hope
