Another one, another one. The last I heard BM's voice, it was because of the
news of Ed Dorn's death.
I think that "distressing" is the most appropriate word, Keston. He might
have gone on for a long time yet it is not entirely surprising. In some ways
he was on borrowed time, as he acknowledged himself. But surprising or not,
it's a pain. I mean *pain; and I wasn't even close.
I leave it to others to say more (though I shall have a black joke bet with
myself as to the identity of the Independent obit writer) beyond my
judgement that Barry's Mary Bell sonnets are some of the most remarkable
things I have ever read.
