A hippy NY to all, and to all a happy NY; and God bless vegetables, and
God bless the turnip especially, and God bless blue corn, and God bless
fields, and God bless Embarrass, Minnesota & all its citizens, and God
bless God & quartzite minerals, and God bless me in my spare time,
and God bless Subordinate Claus & all her Reindeer, and God bless Finland
while I'm thinking of her (bright Finland!), and... and... one & one & two
& all... and...
here's another very old poem for the NY -
BREEZE
A city before sunrise
hovers in the cool air,
under the modest arch
of early blue sky -
a dry honeycomb,
a gray wasp's nest
hung on the limb
of some buried river.
Soon these streets
will swarm with faces,
laws and lawlessness
and careless artifice;
but dawn is simple,
native to earth, sky;
a sea-salt breeze
at the bedroom window.
