Hi,
jumping into varous discursions I'll admit to have been toying fairly
heavily in some recent pieces with syllabic counting for purposes of
line-break constraint. 'Public Speaking' posted to poetryetc2 as part of my
little featured poet thing there had an 8 syllable per line count (fiercely
enforced, giving at times hyphenated line-breaks. 'stranger' (in particular
a recent remix version) uses variable syllabic counts but with the count
very much an element in editorial swe(r)ve. (sweve an swerve recombinant)
It's the fierceness of working within and sometimes running up against such
imposed restraints that appeals to me from time to time. In such
circumstances i much prefer the plainness of strict count to the cadence of
measure. Personal (p)reference in action here.
love and love
