AIM AND SCOPE
=============
The aim of the event is to cover all modern approaches to robotics
problems. It will provide invited lectures by established personalities,

original presentations by junior scientists about research in progress,
and discussions in particular on (but not limited to) the following
topics:

        Mobile Robotics
        Active Perception
        3D Reconstruction
        Learning and Control
        Cooperation
        Control Architectures
        Robotic Applications
        Planning and Plan Execution
        Fuzzy and Neural Network Techniques for Control
        Miniature Robotics
        Visual Surveillance

The event is organised in cooperation with the International Society for

Intelligent Autonomous Systems and sponsored by the Department of
Computer Science, The University of Reading, and the EC TMR Networks
SMART II, CAMERA and MOBINET.

===========
Proceedings, published by The University of Reading, are included in
the registration fee and will be available at the Conference. Extra
copies will also be available.

DEMONSTRATIONS/VIDEO SESSIONS
=============================
There will be opportunities to show robotic demonstrations and
products at the conference. Please contact the Demonstrations Chair

SIRS2000 LOCATION
=================
The event will take place at the campus of the University of Reading,
England.  Reading is easily accessed by rail from all over the UK and
has good flight connections to all countries in  Europe and connections
to
all major cities in the Americas, Asia, Africa and Australasia.
London Heathrow is the nearest and most convenient airport to Reading
with regular RailAir coaches providing a direct connection between
Reading and the airport.

REGISTRATION
============
The residential registration fee is 355 pounds sterling,
non-residential is 225 pounds for non-students.  The student rate is
300 pounds (residential) and 170 pounds (non-residential).
Registration fees include attendance at the conference, a copy of the
proceedings, attendance at the conference dinner, and lunches on
July 18, 19 and 20. The residential fee includes bed and breakfast
accommodation for the nights of July 17, 18 and 19 in standard
university
study-bedrooms with washbasins and nearby WC and shower. Extra nights
can
be requested on the online booking form.  The rooms are not doubles.
Additional rooms for guests can be requested at a cost of 130 pounds for

three nights (July 17, 18 & 19) including breakfast and dinner.
Some rooms may be available for wheelchair users. Please contact the
conference organisers if you require one.

Hotel accommodation can also be arranged.  Please send a blank email to

The conference t-shirt may be ordered for 8 pounds.
