Dear members in this discussion list
Sorry for disturbing you with this email,
but I am writing in order to ask for your
comments about the possible application of
Biomimetic techniques to an optimization
problem in which I am currently working as
part of a research project in the University
of Nottingham.
Is well known that some artificial intelligence
techniques in computer science have been inspired
by the natural (or artificial) processes, such
as Genetic Algorithms, Ant Systems, Simulated
Annealing, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic, etc.
I knew about your communitys interest in research
the biomimetic techniques for solving problems in engineering and other
areas. Then, the purpose of this
email is to ask for ideas and if interested, find out
about the possibility of shared research in the problem
we are tackling.
Basically, the subject of study is the "Space Allocation
Problem", which deals with the optimal distribution
of areas of space among objects. We think that the optimal distribution of
the space might be present in some natural process that could be used as
inspiration for solving this problem.
More information about this problem and our research
work can be found in our web site
http://www.asap.cs.nott.ac.uk/spaceallocation.html
If you are interested and think we can give us some ideas or initiate
working together, please do not hesitate in contacting me.
Thanks very much for reading this and we look forward
to hear all your comments.
