Dear Colleagues,
The Traditional Song Forum in the UK recently held a meeting at
Sheffield where we had a lively and interesting discussion about
folksong tune scholarship.
The discussion touched on modal analysis. One of the points
raised concerned whether pop music used the modes. By
coincidence, I noticed the following request on the IASPM list
today which has already elicited responses about Neil Young's use
of modes and also modes in heavy metal.
It's not clear exactly what definition of 'pop' music the questioner
has in mind, of course, but perhaps ballad list members can point
the questioner towards folk rock or other use of the modes in the
1960s.

I'm looking for modal pop songs composed in the 60s, mainly in the US,
but also in the UK. Any Idea?
Cheers
Meb
