I have just read a very interesting article in Compliance Engineering (September/October 2000) " Addressing the Risk of EMC Problems with Mobile Radio Transmitters"

It should be noted that Powered Wheelchair Controllers are tested to at least 10v/m, although some state 20v/m, and I know some are tested at 50v/m.
Given the proliferation of "wireless" equipment in the Assistive Technology arena, I feel this is something we must begin to be aware of.
Figure 2 is useful. at 0.5m, a 1W transmitter can generate more than 10v/m!
