	'The Arts of Coaching'

	 -    a new certified course   -   by Kaizen

	Manchester Summer Intensive 2000   presented  in partnership with

	The Lowry (Course Venue)
	The Manchester Metropolitan University-School of Theatre (Course Venue)
	The Foundation for Community Dance
	Dance Initiative Greater Manchester
	North West Arts Board


The course offers a real career development for arts professionals
who work or wish to work with people in a developmental role;


*freelance and company based arts professionals such as consultants and
managers,
*teachers, lecturers and practitioners with exiting teaching + development
positions, and
*artists in career transition who may wish to start a freelance practice,

will especially benefit from the possibilities this work holds for them.


'Coaching has long been acknowledged an invaluable asset in sports,
business, politics and therapy.  As we realise that one of the greatest assets
is the ability to bring out the best in others, and in ourselves, the demand
for effective coaching and trained coaches in the arts and in education
is growing steadily. To be a successful coach requires a knowledge and
understanding of the process as well as the variety of styles, skills and
techniques
that are appropriate to the context in which the coaching takes place.'


The course totals 100 hours -which includes
training
supervised practice
individual coaching
supported home study
certification
course materials
and is equivalent to   one year @ 3 hrs per week diploma   courses


    August 26 (Sat) to September 3 (Sun) -  Intensive Training; 9 days

    October 20  (Fri-pm) to 22 (Sun)           -  Integration and
Certification; 2,5 days


    £600 orgs/funded
    £450 waged
    £350 unwaged/low income
    Foundation Skills Option (4 days) available: 26 to 29 August  £225/165/125

    'Early bird bookers' receive 15% discount -  deposits (£100) by June 12th.
    Previous Kaizen course participants are eligible for substantial discounts.

    Residential accommodation + private hospitality is available.

Kaizen is an  independent training organisation designing practical
seminars, courses, workshops, discussion forums and presentations with arts
agencies worldwide for their local, regional or national clientele, since
1997.  Developing creative thinking, enhancing communication and
facilitating effective change and learning - at individual and
organisational levels, are at the centre of Kaizen's work. You may have
been aware of our previous organisation Physical State International ,
which provided training and research opportunities in the performing and
live arts,  for almost ten years until 1995.

Kaizen continues to work with outstanding pedagogues from around the globe.
