ASSISTANT KEEPER OF THE ARCHIVES
Academic-Related Senior Library Grade 2:
£19,482 -£25,213 p.a.
The University Archives is responsible for the selection and preservation of
the administrative records of the University, dating from 1214 to the present,
and for making them and the information they contain available for
administrative and research purposes. Following restructuring, applications
are invited for the new, established post of Assistant Keeper. The postholder
will assist and, where appropriate, deputise for the Keeper across the whole
range of the department's activities and responsibilities.
You will have a good first degree and a recognised postgraduate qualification
in archives and records management and at least two years' experience in a
professional archives post. Palaeographical skills and a good knowledge of
Latin are required. You should be able to demonstrate initiative and
achievement and have a good awareness of current issues in archives and records
management. Good IT skills are essential. You will also have excellent
communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills. Knowledge of the history
of higher education and of the records created by universities would be an
advantage but is not essential.
