I would avoid using Avery labels as the adhesive is not very strong and they
have a tendency to peel off after a few years, especially if your storage
conditions are slightly dryer than the ideal.

For maximum visibility why not use a laser printer to print your box labels?
Most WP programmes have templates for a wide variety of self-adhesive Avery
labels but, is you are worried about the archival quality of the labels, you
can
use a suitable label template to print on plain paper, cut up into
individual
labels and paste them onto the boxes.
