Effective Records Management Event
31 October 2000
Kelvin Conference Centre, Glasgow
The objective of this event is to disseminate the findings of the
University of Glasgow's JTAP funded Effective Records
Management Project. The project has identified many issues
concerned with the management of digital documents that form
part of the administrative record of Universities, such as committee
agenda, minutes and reports. It has also diagnosed the problems
that arise if digital documents are created with no thought as to
their distribution, use, maintenance, storage, or disposition. The
day is intended to be progressive, reviewing the problems, outlining
ways of tackling the problems and illustrating how creators of
documents have responded to changes in their working
practice/tools. Participants will also have the opportunity for
discussion of the methodologies adopted.
The topics to be discussed include
* The problem with digital documents
* Making documents retrievable
* Ensuring document disposition
* Ensuring documents survive
* Ensuring document authenticity
* The users' perspective
There is no charge for staff or students of UK HE institutions
for this event but there will be a charge of £50 for others.
