Subject: Southern Region again
The Southern Region has mainly held its meetings on a Saturday. This has more
to do with the fact that people have to travel so far and wide to get to
meeting places. Meetings after work would not be practical in our case.
Meetings have been held during the week in the past but the problem here is
that some employers are not sympathetic towards allowing time out for people
to a ttend them.
Maybe one of the best suggestions is to attach training sessions to business m
eetings. This has worked for us at weekends and could be offered in the week.
Susan Bradshaw suggested this to me on Friday and it's one thing we wi ll look
at. The suggestion that regional meetings should be more openly broad cast is
another good idea. We try to make sure our regional meetings are accessible to
the different counties as possible, and sometimes meeting places may be within
reach to others from different regions.
If all the regional secretaries, training officers and other interested
parties get together, hopefully we could get together a programme to suit as
many different people as possible.
I wish.
