As a former SRG member, I must agree with David's points, though I am very surprised how small a proportion of SRG members are in fact business archivists - I must have been unduly influenced by knowing that several business archivists are involved as SRG committee members.
I wonder how many business archivists there are in the Society as a whole - and how many of those are archivists with no RM involvement?
David's point re SRG and lone underfunded archivists is also important. Colleagues who are sole practitioners need support and a forum in which to exchange views, which is surely best provided by SRG.
Similarly, business archivists need a forum to discuss business related issues, and I agree that the BAC, while a valuable institution, cannot provide such a purely professional forum. Rather than a subgroup of SRG, I would welcome a BAG (or BRG if we must) of my own!
