POST 1
Somerset Archive and Record Service
Archivist: Accessioning and Cataloguing (Scale 5 or 6)
Appointment within the ranges £15,210-£16,680 or £17,220-£18,372, based on
qualifications and experience.
We are looking for a qualified archivist to take a leading role in
accessioning and cataloguing documents received by the Somerset Record
Office. Our backlog of unlisted material is being tackled by a special team
as part of the lottery-funded 'Access to Somerset Archives' project. It is
essential that newly-arriving materials are processed promptly and
comprehensively and this will be the primary task for this post. A current
driving licence is highly desirable.
There will be ample opportunities to join in other programmes including the
general public service and outreach.
You should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for, and success in,
descriptive work. Those with appropriate post-qualification experience will
be offered a contract on Scale 6.

POST 2
Somerset Archive and Record Service
Archivist: Outreach (Scale 5 or 6)
Appointment within the ranges £15,210-£16,680 or £17,220-£18,372, based on
qualifications and experience.
We are looking for a qualified archivist to fill a recent vacancy in the
staff of the Somerset Archive and Record Service, based at the Somerset
Record Office, Taunton.
The person appointed will be chiefly concerned with outreach, including the
delivery of a service within North Somerset Unitary Authority. This
service, already well-established and successful, involves weekly visits to
libraries in North Somerset to offer advice to the public and make documents
available.
There will be ample opportunity for the postholder to participate in the
broad range of other activities to be found in a busy county record office.
A current driving licence is essential.
A recently-qualified archivist could be expected to be appointed on Scale 5,
an archivist with significant relevant experience on Scale 6.
