We consider every application very carefully, ask why the image is needed
and request details of how it will be used. Then we send a form for the
requester to sign, which includes stipulations such as:
Not depicting the company in a derogatory light;
That the image supplied will be scanned at less than 100dpi to prevent
unauthorised misuse;
It must not be altered in any way;
It must carry a statement that it is Unilever copyright and not a public
domain image;
It should be digitally watermarked, where possible; and
We reserve the right to see the draft version before "publication" in
whatever medium.
I hope that is of some help. If you wish to retain intellectual control
of your images then low resolution scanning is vitally important.
Finally, are you sure that you own the copyright in the first place!

I have exactly the same problem and I suspect it is, or will be, quite
common. Could we have replies on-list please, or else a summary?
