BASTD WORKSHOPS
14th September 2000
The BASTD Workshops have been developed as a more in-depth treatment of the
main themes of theBASTD Introductory Course. Participants will be able to
practice their skills in small groups led by an experienced professional.
The emphasis will be on participative learning: those attending can bring
along examples of challenges they have encountered in processing archives
(both paper and other media), records management and computerisation. There
will also be plenary sessions for discussion and structured debate as well
as an introduction to the wider archival world. A longer lunch hour, a small
number of participants and a venue which offers good spaces for break-out
groups gives the atmosphere and flexibility for those attending to get to
know each other and make lasting contacts. This is expected to be a very
enjoyable and beneficial day. NB we need 15 participants to run this course,
so book early and avoid disappointment.
All workshops will be 2 hours and 15 minutes, with a break in the middle.
Groups will be small so participants are expected to contribute actively and
may be required to do some advance preparation.
Venue: The Meeting Place, 153 Drummond Street, London NW1 2PB
Cost: £90, includes lunch and refreshments. There is a £15 discount for
participants in theBASTD Introductory Courses.
