The issue of gender and archive professionals is an
interesting one - and one which has been pretty much
ignored in the past. Yes women were particularly prevalent in
the profession, and at the top of the profession, when it had
'low status' and attracted a public image of 'eccentricity' -
how much has this changed with the increased numbers of
men now working in the profession? And how has this
affected status...and particularly pay?
A gripping area of study for the economist maybe.
