Science is currently seeking to recruit a full-time archives assistant.

ARCHIVES DIVISION
The Archives Division administers the archive and rare book collections of
the BLPES. These include the archives of the London School of Economics and
deposited collections relating to modern British political, social and
economic history and the history of anthropology and philosophy, notably the
archives of the Liberal Party, the Independent Labour Party, the Fabian
Society and CND, the working papers of Charles Booth's Survey of London and
the personal papers of Beatrice and Sidney Webb, William Beveridge and
Bronislaw Malinowski. It has an active acquisitions programme and a policy
of making material available for research as quickly as possible. All
collections are now listed online using CAIRS TMS full text retrieval
software.
ARCHIVES ASSISTANT
(Salary up to £13,823 p.a. inc.)

The Archives Division is seeking to appoint an archives assistant to
participate in all aspects of the Division's work. The principal duties of
the post will be to support public services, including working in the
Archive Reading Room and the running of the Division's reprographic service.
In addition there will be some involvement in the listing of archives and
the retroconversion of existing catalogues.
The person appointed will be a graduate and good keyboard and computer
skills would be an advantage. The post would be particularly suited to those
seeking practical experience of archive work prior to obtaining a
professional qualification.
