May I ask the advice of list members on the best way to obtain a valuation
for sale purposes of The Live Art Magazine Archive at The Nottingham Trent
University (TNTU).
The Live Art Magazine Archive is a unique collection of materials
documenting the progress of national time-based visual and performing arts
events from 1988: new performance, devised performance, performance art,
installation art and all art phenomena where time and the presence of the
artist/practitioner are essential elements.
The archive comprises mainly publicity materials, including posters,
handbills, press releases, photos etc. There is also a substantial archive
of Hybrid magazine material, including an electronic archive. Although it is
currently housed in the Live Art Archive premises at TNTU under the
direction of Dr. Barry Smith, Principal Lecturer, Department of Visual &
Performing Arts, the university does not own it. TNTU would be the purchaser
of the collection. The seller would be David Hughes, editor of
liveartmagazine: the British bi-monthly guide to the hybrid arts and also
Senior Lecturer, Department of Visual & Performing Arts.
I have contacted Maggs Bothers in London but would be very grateful to hear
if anyone has a recommendation on whom I might approach to obtain a
valuation - I'm a novice at such things!
Thanks in advance.
