address per year. This policy was introduced some years ago to choke off or
derive income from enquiries from credit reference agencies. In response to a
recent complaint about the policy, however, I have undertaken to review it and
see whether we can find some workable way of distinguishing between credit
reference enquiries and 'genuine' personal enquiries.
I should be grateful to list members who let me know off-list a) whether they
currently make a charge for postal or telephone or e-mail enquiries about the
electoral registers, and if so what their arrangements are; and b) whether they
also receive large numbers of credit reference enquiries. I should be happy to
summarise the responses for the list-serv if this would be of interest.
