I couldn't agree with David's point more.
In many ways we are ourselves to blame.
How can we expect to be taken seriously as a profession when we don't feel it
necessary to correct a programme like Blood Ties (BBC2 Sunday) which included
the statement that it was necessary to go to York to consult "an archivist who
specialises in reading Latin and secretarial hand".
