Dear all
It's plastic bags again I'm afraid...
One of the research departments in my company needs to preserve frozen biological specimens (yes, these do count as records) for 15 years. These are held in sample tubes in plastic bags at -80 deg centigrade.
Can any conservation experts tell me whether the plastic bags will survive for 15 years at that temperature, and if not, for how long they will last? I know I got lots of helpful messages about plastics generally from this list a year or so ago, but don't think they covered this particular point.
Please reply on list if your reply would benefit us all, otherwise to me personally or to my colleague Jill Parker to whom this message is copied (she doesn't subscribe to this list).
Hope someone can help or suggest someone who can!
Thanks
Sarah
