This is just to remind anyone interested that the Society of Archivists is
holding a training day on ethnic minority records at Nottinghamshire Archives
on Wednesday 5th July.
The day will address the issues that archivists hoping to increase or
investigate their ethnic minority holdings will face. It will also look at how
to overcome barriers to progress. Speakers will include:
Marika Sherwood, Institute of Commonwealth Studies on where records may be found
Nicholas Kingsley, formerly Birmingham City, on issues, including social
inclusion, facing archivists
Sylvia Thomas, West Yorkshire Archive Service on the Yorkshire Cosmos Project
funded by the HLF
Jenny Childs and Debbie Wilton on initiatives in
Worcestershire Record Office
Samantha Collonette of the CASBAH project
Full details on the SoA website together with a booking form, although Susan
Bradshaw has asked me to point out that on-line booking is not available.
We need at least seven more people to acheive our break even figure to allow
the day to run and the deadline for booking is 15th June. So get booking!
Cheers
Jenny Moran
