NOTICE TO MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY OF ARCHIVISTS
The following is a copy of a notice being mailed to all members of the
Society with the Newsletter/Career Opportunities:
Call for nominations
Elected Councillors
Elections to the Council of the Society will be held at the Annual General
Meeting of the Society on 26 April 2001.
Nominations are now invited for the vacancies following the retirement of
half of the present elected councillors on rotation. Under the new
structure of the Society the number of elected Councillors has been
increased to twelve (12) and nominations for eight places are now invited.
Members from all the Society's groups and regions are encouraged to make
nominations, to ensure that all sectors and areas of the Society are
represented on the Council. If more than eight nominations are received a
ballot will be held.
Valid nominations for elected councillors must be received by the Honorary
Secretary not later than four calendar months before the AGM (i.e. before 26
December 2000)
Honorary Officers
The Officers of the Society (Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Honorary Secretary and
Treasurer) are elected annually. At its November meeting, Council will make
its nominations for the election of Officers. Any other nominations for the
Officers of the Society must reach the Honorary Secretary not later than
three calendar months before the AGM (i.e. before 23 January 2001). In the
event of more than one nomination for any office a postal ballot will be
held.
An Honorary Assistant Secretary, an Honorary Assistant Treasurer and an
Honorary Membership Secretary will be chosen from among the elected
Councillors at the first meeting of the new Council after the AGM.
Nominations must be signed by a proposer and seconder, who shall be members
of the Society, and by the candidate signifying his/her willingness to
stand. Please send any nominations to the Honorary Secretary at the
Society's registered office, 40 Northampton Road, London EC1R 0HB.
Janet Smith, Honorary Secretary
