NEW OPPORTUNITIES FUND LAUNCHES nof-digitise.org
TECHNICAL STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES
The New Opportunities Fund has launched a new technical guide for projects
applying through the Fund's nof-digitise.org grant programme. The guide,
thought to be the first containing such advice, will ensure that all
learning material put into digital form through the funding programme will
be consistently delivered and be fully accessible through the National Grid
for Learning and the People's Network.
Detailed advice about technical standards has been drawn up by UKOLN in
association with the People's Network Development Team of Resource and is
available on the People's Network website. The guide contains advice on all
aspects of content creation and management, collection development and
access. Given the rapidly changing environment of networked content, this
guidance will be kept up-to-date.
Chris Anderson, who is leading the nof-digitise.org programme at the Fund,
said: "By working in partnership with UKOLN and Resource we have been able
to take a lead in ensuring projects funded by the New Opportunities Fund can
make a real impact by being truly accessible to all. The standards have
already attracted considerable interest in the UK and abroad and will
provide a useful tool for anyone undertaking a digitisation project."
The New Opportunities Fund is interested to receive any comments,
suggestions and feedback on the standards. Please e-mail comments to
