Dear all,
At Special Collections, Leeds University Library, we are
considering automating aspects of the Division's reader services
through the circulation system (innopac). Issuing, and most other
parts of our reader services, are done manually at present, not
least because this ensures each item borrowed is signed for. But
we think there may be real benefits to automating our systems,
and we are very keen to learn from the experience of other sites in
this regard.
We are particularly interested in automating issue procedures and
introducing advance ordering through the opac for our rare printed
book collections, as well as looking at the feasibility of managing
information about our users through the Library's circulation
system. I would be very interested to hear on or off list from anyone
with experience of these matters, or who can point me in the
direction of someone who has. Many thanks, Jessica
