This is probably a simple question, but it's not really my area and since I
needed an excuse to test the new list-serve anyway...
Would cast iron cookware (pots, pans, etc) be appropriate in a European
context around, say, 12th-13th century? If not, what sort of thing would
they use for boiling things in? Pottery?
I know from an armour perspective that cast iron was generally avoided as a
useless byproduct, but that's about the limit of my knowledge for cast iron.
