I was in Budapest for the last 3 weeks and saw several news articles on the
Seuso treasure and the efforts of the Hungarian government to prove that the
late roman silver objects were unearthed near the Lake Balaton and removed
from Hungary illegally. One of the TV shows even had a clip showing Peter
Northover, who has done some work in the case.
I was fascinated with the impressive silver finds and even more so with the
complex problem of proving that they had been excavated in Hungary. If it is
possible for Dr. Northover to discuss the issues, I would love to hear what
is going on.
