Han Rubin was just visiting with me and we discussed this very
problem. My student Donna Belcher did her MS thesis on a group of
carpentry tools from Williamsburg,Virginia. Many of these pieces had
ghost-like stuctures of various kinds but related to phosphorus
segregation. Han Rubin has a copy of the thesis and you should look
at it.
