Meeting of Royal Statistical Society Social Statistics Section
The Future of UK Longitudinal Studies
Tuesday 16 May, 2000 at the Royal Statistical Society, 12 Errol Street, London EC1Y 8OX (Barbican and Moorgate are the nearest underground stations)
The Economic and Social Research Council has commissioned the UK Longitudinal Studies centre at Essex to develop a long term strategy for collections of data in this area in relation to future research needs. In parallel, the Office for National Statistics is co-ordinating a strategy to ensure Government needs for longitudinal data are met. This meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss these strategies at an early stage. It will also discuss the future direction of some of the main studies, including the birth cohorts and the British Household Panel Study.
The Meeting will be chaired by Professor Angela Dale (University of Manchester)
