We have a vacancy for a statistician/econometrician who has up to two years
post-graduation work experience to help us analyse customer transaction
level data on behalf of our client, one of the UK's largest retail groups,
using the most up-to-date statistical analysis and data mining software
from the SAS Institute (version 8.1).
Analyses to be conducted will include the setting up of test versus control
experiments and the analysis of their results; customer segmentation;
factor analysis; data mining; customer scoring; logistic and neural
response probability modelling and the opportunity to apply genetic
algorithms and other advanced methods to the data.
A full time temporary post earning 17.50 GBP/hour is available immediately
with the
possibility for the position to become a permanent full time post
thereafter. The
temporary post will be for 8 weeks in the first instance.
Suitable candidates will need to have a good degree (2.i or better) in a
subject with a high statistical content and a post-graduate qualification
would be advantageous. A good degree in Statistics, Mathematics, OR,
Economics, Econometrics, Biology or other similar discipline where a
substantial statistical content has formed part of the course would be
required.
Knowledge of the analysis of retail data, the analysis of customer
transaction level data, or database marketing would be a distinct advantage
but a thorough knowledge of the base SAS statistical analysis system is
essential for the role. Training in more advanced data
mining and analysis methods using SAS will be made available for the
selected candidate.
Applicants must hold an appropriate work permit for full time work in the UK
and be able to travel to Ascot on a daily basis. No assistance can be given
