VISITOR POSITIONS FOR WINTER AND/OR SPRING 2001
Because of an unexpected leave of absence, the Department of Statistics and
Applied Probability urgently needs to hire one or two temporary faculty for
Winter and/or Spring 2001, at Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Preference is for full-time appointments, to teach one or two courses
in each quarter. but half-time is possible. (Extension into 2001-2002
may be possible.)
Of particular interest are applicants with experience and interest teaching
at the undergraduate level (in theoretical statistics, applied statistics,
or applied probability). PhD required.
Research interests of faculty include: Bayesian computation,
bootstrap methods, directional data analysis, document retrieval algorithms,
functional data analysis, goodness-of-fit methods, heavy-tailed stochastic
models, likelihood analysis, massive data sets, multi-dimensional scaling,
random fields, smoothing spline methods, statistical
signal and image processing, stochastic models in finance, and time series.
The Department's computing facilities are excellent.
