Applications are invited for a three-year fixed-term position at Assistant
Lecturer level, open to candidates with interests in probability,
mathematical statistics, mathematics of operations research, or ergodic
theory. The vacancy is in response to Dr Steve Brooks's appointment as an
EPSRC Advanced Fellow. The successful applicant will be appointed from 1
October 2001 or before, and will contribute to the teaching and research
programmes of the Laboratory. The current age-related scales of stipends
are on the scale GBP 17,755-23,256. It is normal (but not obligatory) for
staff to undertake supervision of undergraduates for the Colleges of the
University, thereby supplementing their salaries.
The Statistical Laboratory was awarded the grade of 5* in the 1996
Research Assessment Exercise. The Faculty of Mathematics was awarded
23/24 in the 1999 Teaching Quality Assessment.
