STATISTICIAN
Applications are invited for this post, funded for up to three years by the US National Institutes of Health, to develop methods for mapping genes underlying ethnic differences in disease risk.
Applicants should have a strong background in statistics and probability theory, specifically in the theory and application of Markov chain Monte Carlo methods to complex models. Programming skills are essential, experience with C desirable. No previous experience in statistical genetics is necessary: there will be ample opportunity to acquire expertise in this field during the course of the project.
The salary will be on the School's academic scale, currently £19,666 to £32,493 per annum with appointment at Research Fellow/Lecturer level. The scale point will be commensurate with the postholder's experience and seniority . The appointment, which is available for three years, will be subject to a six-month probationary period.
