LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER - Level B/C in Statistics
The School of Mathematics & Statistics is one of twelve Schools at
University College, a campus of the University of New South Wales
located at the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra. The School
teaches courses involving mathematics and its applications, probability
and statistics, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as
providing supervision for research degrees. The major fields of
statistical research in the School, attracting external funding from
both national and international sources, are in the areas of
environmental and ecological statistics.
Applicants for this position should have a higher degree in Statistics
or a related discipline, with a demonstrated record of research and
publication in an area of applied statistics. Other essential
requirements are: a demonstrated ability to teach both introductory and
specialist Statistics courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to
work positively and cooperatively in a teaching and research
environment; knowledge and understanding of EEO and OH & S principles
and practices. Preference may be given to applicants who are able to
contribute to one or more of the School's current research
areas. Interest and willingness in developing Statistics courses using
flexible delivery techniques would also be an advantage.
The position will be available from January, 2000.
The salary range for Lecturer is $51,150 - $60,742 and for Senior
Lecturer is $62,658 - $72,250 depending on qualifications and
experience. Membership of an approved University Superannuation scheme
is a condition of employment.
