I don't know who confounded the two cases, but the conviction based on
an invalid probability argument was of SALLY CLARKE. See messages on

Louise Woodward was convicted in the US on the basis that a child she
was nannying died as a result of brain injuries. The debate on that case
is not, as far as I am aware, statistical; it centres on the forensic
evidence as to whether the brain injury was consistent only with the child
being shaken.
