Position in Statistics (tenure track)
____________________________________________________________________
Applications are invited for a position in Statistics, preferably
with effect from October 1st, 2001, depending on the constraints of
the selected candidate. Applicants should hold a Ph. D. degree in
Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, or equivalent, and have
research strength in Statistics. As teaching duties include advanced
courses in time series analysis, with emphasis on econometric
applications, expertise in this area is desirable.
Teaching languages are French and English; a training period may be
considered for non French-speaking candidates. Appointment will be
made at the level of "charge de cours", and tenure should be given
after a period of three to five years. For exceptional candidates,
appointment at more senior level also may be considered.
The applied probability and statistics teams at the Universite Libre
de Bruxelles are small but active--ULB is one of the three
institutions worldwide to be identified as having highly productive
groups in both disciplines in a recent survey (the Canadian Journal
of Statistics 1999, page 438). The statistics team is also closely
involved in the activities of the European Center for Advanced
Research in Economics and Statistics (ECARES), which is a member of
the ENTER network.
Applications (including a CV, a list of publications and names of
three referees) should be sent to Monsieur le Recteur de l'Universite
Libre de Bruxelles, 50 avenue F.D. Roosevelt, B1050 Bruxelles,
Belgium, preferably with copy to Mrs J. Bottemanne, Institut de
Statistique et de Recherche Operationnelle, Universite Libre de
Bruxelles, Campus de la Plaine CP 210, B1050 Bruxelles. Official
deadline is March of 2001, but early applications are encouraged.
